Whittemore Legacy: Industry, Art, and Conservation

Learn how John Howard and Harris Whittemore shaped the Naugatuck Valley through civic beautification, early forest restoration, and land conservation—including the 200,000 trees Harris is said to have planted in 1921 on land that is now part of Flanders’ Whittemore Preserve.
