
Please join us as we conduct our annual meeting. During the meeting we will elect directors, reflect on 2024’s accomplishments and share plans for 2025. We will also celebrate our volunteers, including announcing the 2024 Volunteer of the Year! This is also a good opportunity to meet our Board and share ideas and thoughts. Refreshments will be served.

Suzanne was born and raised in Woodbury, most of her childhood included the outdoors including making wreaths, Maple Syrup and hiking at Flanders. Gardening and property management were weekly events in the family. After a fifteen year career in banking as a loan officer and branch manager in MA and CT, she returned to the area and worked at The Taft School for 30 years where she was the Director of Financial Aid for many years as well as the Associate Director of Admissions. Since retiring in 2023 her life has been filled with volunteer work around the local area.

George Frantzis III is a life-long resident of Woodbury, with a background in operations, sales, human resources, marketing, and is bi-lingual with fluency in Spanish. George serves as the General Manager and Human Resources Director at Quassy Amusement Park. He has an enduring passion for conservation, hiking, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and international travel. George is "incredibly excited to bring my expertise, resources, and personal interests to such a profound local organization, dedicated to the preservation of our beautiful community and how it intertwines with our natural ecosystem."

Guy has been an active volunteer at Flanders since he and his late wife Allison moved to Woodbury in 1984. As the house was Flanders property, part of the deal in the purchase was a one year membership to FNC. They raised their three sons there and engaged them in volunteer work collecting sap for sugaring, among many other things. Guy is a retired architect having done Commercial and Residential work in western Connecticut and out of state, and holds a BA degree in Spanish from Lafayette College, and a professional Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has been on the Glebe House board of directors and Property Committee for several decades, and spent many years as an active deacon at North Congregational Church in Woodbury. He is a land monitor for Flanders, a member of the Sustainability committee, and a sugar maker and interpreter during maple season. Hobbies are hiking, skiing, sailing and wooden boat design and construction/restoration. He has a 47 pound corgi named Rustle.

Dr. Peter Jacoby is the Medical Director of the Healogics Wound Center at Saint Mary’s Hospital and the Past Chairman of Emergency Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. When active in Emergency Medicine, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Traumatology and Emergency Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and at the Department of Medical Sciences of the Frank H Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. He is a past winner of the Phil Stent award given annually to the Emergency Physician of the Year in Connecticut, and a recipient of the ACEP Council Meritorious Service Award as well as the Collin C. Rorrie award given for his work for Healthcare Policy. He is also a past winner of the Frederic and Lucy Kellogg Award presented by the United Way of Greater Waterbury. He was named by ACEP as one of its “Heroes of Emergency Medicine” in celebration of its 40th year as well as a “Healthcare Hero” by the Connecticut Hospital Association. Dr. Jacoby is a past Council Speaker of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEMPAC (National Emergency Medicine Political Action Committee). In 13 years as Chair he raised over 13 million dollars to support causes for Emergency Medicine and healthcare overall. He was the founding chair of the Waterbury Chamber’s Health Care Council and was a past recipient of their leadership award. He was the Chair of the Capitol Campaign for Founders Hall at NVCC helping to raise over 1 million dollars and currently is a member of the Board of Directors of Wellmore, a member of the Board of Directors of the NVCC Foundation and the Past Chairman of the Palace Theater Board in Waterbury and Past President of the Trustees of the Connecticut Community Foundation. He also serves volunteer positions as camp medical director for Flanders Nature Center, the Waterbury Country Club, and The Boys and Girls Club of Waterbury. His hobbies include travel, photography and cooking. He is married to Kristen Jacoby and together they reside in Woodbury, CT.

has been a resident of Woodbury for 52 years. She has devoted 35 years of service to the Town. She began her service with the Region14 school district, chairing its Policy Committee. While on the Board of Education, Barbara served on three building committees – Nonnewaug High School,Bethlehem Elementary, and the Agri-science building. Her tenure on the Zoning Commission gave her insight to the regulations that would help residents and builders navigate the requirements for various construction requests. When approached to seek the position of selectman, Barbara gladly dedicated herself to serve the Town in a greater role. She chaired the Reservoir Property Management Plan sub-committee and the Re-cycling Ad Hoc Committee, and served on the Plan of Conservation and Development sub-committee. She also served as a director with the Community Services Council of Woodbury. Her culminating role of service (or so she thought) was becoming First Selectman for the Town in 2019 until her retirement in November 2025. Barbara holds a Master’s degree from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, in Family and Consumer Sciences. She is a retired teacher (36 years) from the Watertown Public Schools, where she was department chair for 5 years. She enjoys sitting in front of her computerized sewing machine designing and quilting, but the best time is when she is with her 2 grandsons, who enjoy having fun at “Nana’s” house. Barbara, along with her husband, Peter, has raised two daughters in Woodbury, each graduating from the Region 14 school district to become professional women in their chosen career.
JOSH HARWOOD is a 25-year resident of Woodbury, where he and his family have enjoyed Flanders’ many offerings for decades. He is currently an active participant on the Land Acquisitions Committee, volunteers regularly for the Flanders Field & Forest 5K and has served up flapjacks as a Pancake Breakfast volunteer. He holds a B.A. from Hamilton College and has over 3 decades of experience in book publishing sales and sales management for Random House, Houghton Mifflin, and others. He recently launched a career in real estate and as an agent, enjoys addressing local real estate and housing needs. Josh coached youth basketball and baseball locally for Woodbury Parks & Rec; served on the board of Quassapaug Sailing Center for several years where he remains an active sponsor (and kayaker), and was recently elected to the Board of Trustees, Woodbury United Methodist Church.
DON MAKI is a 25 year resident of Woodbury. While volunteering at Flanders for the past 6 years, he has led Earth Day invasive removal projects, renovation of the 50 year old nut tree arboretum and organized various trail projects. Don is a member of the Van Vleck and Land Management committees and participates in native plant projects, energy conservation, fruit tree pruning and trails maintenance. He’s one of the project leaders striving to install solar equipment at the Van Vleck campus. Best described as an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys foraging mushrooms and other edible plants. He’s an active Masters track and field athlete and is currently serving as the throws coach for the Nonnewaug track and field teams . In the past, he’s coached baseball in the Woodbury Little League as well as assisted other Woodbury non-profit organizations such as Dollars for Scholars and the Woodbury Bethlehem Music Foundation. He is a graduate of WPI and RPI with BS and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering and business Management . His work career encompassed various roles with global industrial companies including project management, chemical plant management, product manager, supply chain manager and hazardous transportation management. Don is married to Jan and they have 3 adult children Peter, Sara and Alex.
DANA MOREIRA is a self employed attorney in Middlebury. Her work at the Law Offices of Dana D'Angelo concentrates on real estate, probate and representing the Town of Middlebury. Dana graduated from Providence College and Suffolk University Law School. She is a member of the Waterbury and Connecticut Bar Associations. Dana is the Chair of the Land Acquisition Committee and also serves on both the Governance and Land Management Committees. She has previously been a founding member of the Flanders Field & Forest 5K Committee. She lives in Middlebury with her husband George and 3 children.
PRISCILLA L. KERBIN-PRICE is the retired co-owner of the Watertown Animal Hospital, which was founded in 1979, with her main focus in the practice of surgery. Priscilla earned her BA from Wellesley College (1968) and her DVM from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. She previously practiced in Westbury, NY, Lansdowne, PA, Guelph, Ontario, Canada and Southbury, CT. When not at Watertown Animal Hospital Priscilla enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, needlepoint, and furniture refinishing. At Flanders, Priscilla is the Chair of the Violations Committee of the Land Management Committee, is the Easement Monitor Coordinator and serves as a Land Monitor. She is also a board member of the Woodbury Arts Alliance and a board member of the Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden. Priscilla and her husband, Steve, live in a crooked old house in Woodbury with their cat Cosette, Ita, an adorable tiny Yorkie and Gilbert, an energetic lab cross. Their two children are grown. Jarrel lives in Virginia with his wife and two children. Addie lives in Cusco, Peru.
